¿Volvería?SIN DUDA
We went in April, in family, one week. First time in New York but not first time in the USA. We stayed at Romer Hell's Kitchen hotel, very well located. Like 15 minutes walking to Central Park, subway station nearby, you can reach anywhere easily. Compared to France, I found the subway a bit more complicated; in some stations, the train goes only in one direction. If you want the opposite direction, you must go out and find another entry. You can't swap direction in every station, kind of weird. The subway has a cool thing though: with a contactless card (we used Revolut), you pay a maximum of something around 30-35 euros per week; everything over that is free. So you can take it one or two times or ten times, same flat price. From the airport, we took an Uber, around 100 euros. For leaving, we took the train; they have one straight to the airport, less expensive. For food, we ate everywhere: restaurants, diners, street food. The simple places where the workers nearby eat, for us, that means the food is good. We tried the famous New York pizza; for me, it was not awesome, not very tasty at least for my taste. I prefer the Italian style pizza. Street hot dogs, same feeling, not wow. The mobile food stops are everywhere and pretty cheap. The restaurants are pretty expensive; even without the tip, for three people, you easily reach 150 euros for three meals and one drink. Breakfast is usually the American style. And everywhere you get iced water; I don't understand the ice thing everywhere :) We walked in all the neighborhoods, the last one Queens. Interesting to see all these places you see in the movies. We really liked Brooklyn. We saw the Statue of Liberty from a boat cruise; there are some that go nearby, it was pretty cheap, I don't remember the price. One night we went to a stand-up comedy; the guy was okayish, not crowded, like ten people in a small bar, but good ambience. Would we go back? For sure. Just come with a good budget :)
