How are the beaches in Madeira? Any sand beaches?

We go in family, we would like some beach time between the visits. Are there real sand beaches or only rocks? Can we reach them easily by car, easy to find parkings ?

No one answered before I went there, so I answer now in case someone finds this question later. There are many beaches, usually small, so they can get crowded. Calheta has normal sand. There are many more with black sand, like Seixal. I have written a report about Madeira, check it out if you are interested, and feel free to ask me questions.
