Turn your Polarsteps trips into trip reports
Import a Polarsteps trip. Each place becomes a trip report: your words, your photos, your map, your verdict.
How it works
- In Polarsteps, go to Settings → Account → Download my data. A few minutes later Polarsteps emails you a download link, valid about a week.
- Sign in here with one email, no password, and paste that link. Pick a trip, then the places you want to write about. Each place becomes its own report.
- Your day-by-day diary and photos are saved as private drafts. Open each one, add who went and your answer to "Would I go back?", and publish.
Nothing is published without you. Not on Polarsteps? You can write a report from scratch instead.
What you get
- One trip report per place, with your diary kept day by day, in your own words. Nothing is rewritten.
- Your photos, in the order you took them.
- The places you mention — hotels, restaurants, campsites, beaches — found in your story after you publish, pinned on a map. You can add, move or remove them.
- A journey page that binds every place of the trip in the order you travelled, with its own route map.
- The ✓ Trip verified badge when Polarsteps live-tracked the trip: the tracked locations are checked against the destination and dates during the import.
What we do not do
- We never copy or store your export. The server reads only the bytes it needs, straight from the link, and the link itself is never saved.
- We never rewrite your text. What you wrote is what readers get.
- We never answer for you. Who went and "Would I go back?" are yours to add before publishing.
- Photos follow the same rules as everyone's: travel photos only, checked before readers see them. Polarsteps removes camera data from exported photos, so photos alone cannot verify a trip.
- Back From My Trip is not affiliated with Polarsteps.
Questions
Can I import only part of a trip?
Yes. You pick the places. Already-imported places are skipped, and you can request a new export and come back for the rest at any time.
Can I edit a report after importing?
Yes, like any other report: the text, the photos, the places, the verdict. You can also delete it.
What if a place is wrong or missing?
Places are found from your story. In the edit page you can add a missed place, move a wrongly pinned one, or remove it.
Does it work for trips I did not live-track?
Yes. The diary and photos import the same way. Only the ✓ Trip verified badge needs the tracked locations, or an original photo from your camera roll added before publishing.
